I Civic Museums are divided into sections distributed in different levels of Palazzo Farnese.
On the mezzanine floor are exposed: the wooden model of the building; Late medieval frescoes, epigraphs, coats of arms and sculptures from the 12th-18th centuries; glasses and ceramics; defense and offense weapons dated between the 17th and 18th centuries.
In the stucco frames of the ducal apartment are located i Farnesian Fasti with the deeds of Paul III and Alessandro Farnese, completed by the Fasti di Elisabetta upstairs where is the picture gallery.
Here, among paintings of various ages and schools, stands out the Tondo by Botticelli.
In the basement is hosted the Carriage Museum, with rare and precious examples of the XVIII-XX centuries; in the mezzanine the Museum of the Risorgimento preserves documents and memorabilia in particular of the 1848-49 and 1859-61 years.
In archaeological Museum, set up in Visconti Citadel, you can visit the pre-protostoria section and the famous "Liver of Piacenza".
