Il Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, Also known as Madonna of the Incoronata, is a religious building located at arcidosso, in the province of Grosseto.
Formed as an ex-voto for the end of the plague of the 1348, it was originally small.
The extensions began as early as the fifteenth century and continued in the following centuries.
The façade has three architraved portals interspersed with rectangular windows.
In the baroque high altar in stucco there is a fifteenth-century "Madonna with Child" attributed to Pellegrino di Mariano by Jacopo Rossini.
Among other works, the fifteenth-century "Madonna della Misericordia"; the banner representing "the Virgin in glory between Saints Sebastian and Rocco", "the Miracle of the Snow" by Ventura Salimbeni, "the Madonna with Child and Saint John" (1726) by Giuseppe Nicola Nasini.
Of particular interest is the canvas dated 1736 and depicting "Pope Celestine V in the act of renunciation before John the Baptist and at the feet of the Virgin enthroned with Child".
Claudia Cinquemani, a local scholar, recently discovered that the canvas is a copy of another author, taken from the famous and more ancient work of 1688 "Madonna with Giovanni Battista, Pier Celestino and San Luca" by Marcantonio Franceschini, kept in the church of San Pietro of the Celestines in Bologna.
The discovery is reported in the text The light of the goddess - Journey between Lamula and surroundings.
